Spain Will Host USA In Madrid For The Davis Cup Semifinal

The president of the Spanish Tennis Federation (RFET) Pedro Muñoz, has confirmed that the soon coming Davis Cup semifinal will take place in the capital city of Spain.

Benidorm, Gijon, Madrid and Santa Cruz de Tenerife were announced as the four cities chosen from the initial ten cities that bid to host the tie. Barcelona, Jerez de la Frontera, Malaga, Marbella, Murcia and Santander were the unsuccessful cities.

The Spanish tennis players announced in Rome, that with this fact, they broke all contacts with the president of the Spanish Tennis Federation (RFET) Pedro Muñoz, supporter of the Madrid candidacy instead of the other cities as Benidorm, Tenerife or Gijon.

From the 19th to the 21st of September 2008 the well known Bull fighting arena in Madrid (Las Ventas) will join thousands of tennis lovers in this beautiful city despite of the opinion of the Spanish tennis players who will have preferred to play at sea level, considering that Madrid is at 600 meters from sea level and this issue makes a quickest game for the USA players.

The city of Madrid and the accommodations in the town will get crowded for that dates, so it is recommended to get ready with the lodging in advanced. Good connections with public transports between the Plaza de Toros de la Ventas (Bull fighting Arena) and holiday apartments in Madrid for the stay would be smart for those who will travel to Madrid for this event where the Spanish tennis players will give as much as they can to win.
