Cheapest Places to Retire in the United States

When you start looking for a cheap place to retire in the US you need to examine several factors.

Whether or not that particular state has an income tax will help identify a cheap place for some.

Whether or not you can live off the grid would be important to another retiree. If you can stand to live in isolation with propane, wind and solar providing your utilities you have a lot of places to choose from...check local zoning laws as a first step.

If you like constant change in your living spaces...consider living full time in an RV. This is a great way to live and see all of the beautiful USA. You have not seen all of the National Parks? Do it in an RV...it is a cheap way to live...and you do not need a snow blower or lawnmower anymore. If you do not like your neighborhood, fire up the engine and leave.

Park model mobile homes, also known as manufactured homes, are a great way to retire cheaply. The park model mobile home communities of Arizona for instance are like cruise ships that do not move...non -stop activities, at a low price are available. If you have some land a manufactured home can be placed anywhere you can get propane, septic tank service, and a source of water (drill a well).

These cheapest places to retire are not about sacrifice either, these lifestyles offer a fun way of living...it is up to you whether you need a lot of friends around or can do quite nicely in more isolation.

To start make a checklist, two checklists if you are married, then compare the lists. You may be surprised or shocked at these two lists. If they are compatible fine, if not work out a compromise now before you start going in one direction and he or she in the other.
